Our ongoing programs are set in motion and long-range plans will be made.  Please invite anyone who may be interested.  If you are a non-member and would like to know more about us, send us an email (see "Contact Us" above) for details and directions.  You are most welcome!  Amanda R's house, 7:00 pm sharp.  Please RSVP to Amanda (yea's and nay's), and bring a snack to share.

Science Fair: Our science fair is scheduled for Saturday, February 13, 2010, 12:30-4 pm at Emmanuel Church. It is open to students in grades 4-12. February seems like a long time from now, but doing a few simple things right now makes science projects a better experience. This month start collecting ideas for science projects from your children’s daily activities. Keep a piece of paper or a space on a whiteboard, and every time your child wonders about how something works or what something is, write it down. After a month, the list could be pretty long. Registration will be due November 15. Watch your email for a registration form. If
you have questions contact Greg V.

Who is JPGHE?  How do you join?

John Paul the Great Home Educators was founded in 1998 as the Traditions of Roman Catholic Homes (TORCH) Holy Family Chapter of Greater Dayton.  In the summer of 2007, the  affiliation with TORCH National was dropped and the group became a local support organization.  Members live all over the Miami Valley area, attend a variety of parishes for Mass, and interact with each other at sports, learning, and activity venues all over the area.  Networks develop with members living in the same neighborhoods including baby-sitting services from older homeschooled children and carpooling for events.

Membership in JPGHE is $25/year and includes a monthly on-line newsletter, a website, a members-only e-loop, and a 15% discount with the Home School Legal Defense Association (beginning in 2008.)  Your dues support the website and provide supplies for group events.
